New Beginnings, 2025
by Jill Austen on 11/27/24It's been a long time since I posted here, for two main reasons, I think. First, I am not much of a social media "butterfly". I prefer the solitude of my studio most of the time, at least when I'm not traveling. And secondly (closely related to the first reason), I was very slow to come out of the hibernation imposed by the pandemic. Now here I am, much like the butterfly emerging from its chrysalis.
I have been fortunate during the past few years to travel extensively...across the US, to West Africa and Bhutan, and for extended periods of time in Mexico. So many inspiring people and sights to bring back to the studio, and such a backlog of ideas! My next big project takes me to the Faroe Islands in May 2025. I've long wanted to visit the rugged, far-flung land as part of my lifelong fascination with islands, my own personal Island Project. "Vit síggjast" see you soon Faroe Islands.
